Hospice Peterborough Updater

Date:
Tuesday, May 9th, 2017 (All day) to Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 (All day)

Greetings

Welcome to the Hospice Peterborough Updater – a brief monthly electronic publication to keep you informed about what’s happening with your community hospice.

Over the last month we have hosted two of our three annual events, the Hospice Gala and Hike for Hospice. We are so fortunate to have the support of our community behind these events and are thankful to everyone who attended, donated and sponsored. Funds raised from these annual events help Hospice Peterborough to offer the best possible support to individuals and families living with or affected by life-threatening illness and grief. Our specially trained staff and volunteers offer care for the whole person, improve quality of life and enhance comfort. And our programs and services are offered free of charge to residents of all ages living in the City and County of Peterborough.

The spring sessions of our adult and children's grief recovery groups began during the month of April, most at capacity. These groups provide a source of support to individuals who are moving through life after the death of someone they were connected to. If you or someone you know would be interested information on the grief groups offered by Hospice Peterborough please contact us at (705) 742-4042 or by email at admin@hospicepeterborough.org

- With warm wishes, Hospice Peterborough Staff and Volunteers

p.s. If you have Hospice-related news or a story, please contact Todd at Hospice to discuss the best way to share it with the broader community - tbarr@hospicepeterborough.org or (705) 742-4042.

National Hospice Palliative Care Week May 7-13

This week is National Hospice Palliative Care Week across Canada. It is a time to bring awareness to hospice palliative care and Advance Care Planning; a process of thinking about and sharing your wishes for future health and personal care. It can help you tell others what would be important if you ill and unable to communicate.

This week Hospice Peterborough staff and volunteers will be taking part in the #Top5WhileImAlive initiative. We encourage you to participate and post a photo to your social media feeds of your top five bucket list with the hashtag #Top5WhileImAlive.
