International Women's Day 2019 Community Gathering

Kawartha World Issues Centre and Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre would like to invite you to the International Women's Day annual community gathering in Peterborough, organized around the theme #pressforprogress. 

Our guest speakers this year are Alexandra Arraiz Matute, a Trent University professor in the fields of Sociocultural Theories of Human Development, Indigenous, Environmental and Sustainability Education, and Aboriginal Studies, Roshanak Jaberi, an Iranian-Canadian artist and activist based in Toronto, connecting dance with political issues such as gender and race injustices, presenting in partnership with Public Energy, and Stacey Love-Jolicoeur, a 2-spirited trans-Aboriginal person, educator and support worker for LGBTQ2S, especially those incarcerated. Moderator, Karleen Pendleton Jiménez is an American-Canadian writer, filmmaker, scholar and educator, presently teaching at Trent University in the Faculty of Education and Professional Learning. She recently completed a short film, Butch Coyolxauhqui (2016) looking at queer body image, fatphobia, and reclamation.
