Conference Theme: Dubbing in the Silences/Dubbing out on Consciousness
This year’s festival Dubbin’ In/Dubbin’ Out continues the Dub Poets Collects previous efforts to initiate collaborations and experimentations across artistic borders and genres while fostering dialogue with community advocacy groups and educational intuitions. Occurring over four days, this gathering will bring together poets, performers, musicians, academics and community activists to focus on healing and strategies to further equity, justice and sustainability.
Musical/Artistic Explorations:
The festival aims to situate Dub in a continually shifting artistic/political globalized context that encompasses a wide range of artistic genres including hip hop and spoken word. The primary musical theme of the festival is the productive blurring of musical territories and nationalisms – a blurring which must create spaces of political solidarity without erasing the specificity of different forms of oppression in particular contexts.

b) Blending Voices for Justice
A cappella performance format featuring a range of poetic forms involving local text based poets, dub poets, slam poets, and visiting poets.
Performers: Unity, The Raging Grannies, Ziysah, Betsy Struthers,
Rene and Pepi Castro, Sankofa, Chet Singh, Neal McLeod, The M.A.D. Poet,
Andrea Thompson, Klyde Broox.
