Excellent Film Evening – Two documentaries

A//  "OSHKIGMONG" (32 minutes)   -   6:30 – 7:30, approximately

This excellent local film from Curve Lake First Nation examines the unique,
proud history of the Michi Saagiig (Mississauga) of the Curve Lake First
Nation (Oshkigmong).  It will include the treaty process and impacts from the
controversial 1923 Williams Treaties, and Curve Lake's development to the
      present day.

Anne Taylor, Cultural Central Archivist at Curve Lake First Nation, will join us
to provide further information and answer questions.

B//  "TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH" (56 minutes)  -  7:30 – 9:00, approximately
         (Fall, 2015)

This film will explore the consequences of unbridled expansion of Canada's
tar sands operations and pipelines  -  the rise of extreme energy.  Included
will be the rapid shift from the collapse of regular conventional crude oil in
2005 to a "new energy age" featuring tar sand development, fracking,
mega pipeline projects, and the subsequently growing source of greenhouse
     gas emissions.

How can Canada transition from this energy age!  Renewable energy should
    become the reality.
